“The space of exhibition is a point of production. People gather in galleries to generate something together. There are many reasons to visit galleries, and we each have our own, but I suspect we all share a common expectation. I believe that the collective devotion to art and the social rituals surrounding exhibitions are rooted in the principle of freedom. We gather together to glimpse freedom’s potential embodied in art.”
– Gregg Bordowitz, “Testing Some Beliefs” in Interiors, edited by Johanna Burton, Lynne Cooke, and Josiah McElheny
Located behind a courtyard and before an artist’s studio, FOYER-LA is an in-between space for experimentation. It is a place of possibility, dialogue, and continuum, and an invitation for collaboration and conversation through looking. It is a space for gathering together to glimpse this freedom.
FOYER-LA was founded by artist Connie Walsh in 2019. Since that time, we have presented over 20 projects.
